Ghost appears!!!
NBC actually captured a ghost and never knew it! In their filming of an "Empty" room, on film, movement in a doorway is obvious. Overlooked until I did a frame by frame analysis.Something comes to the door, then backs away?

God, that is so creepy. *shudder!* I saw that upon viewing the video initially, but just (wrongly) assumed it was a living person who withdrew from sight suddenly. Did NBC ever offer an explanation for losing the entire footage of the exorcism (and other items in their Chicago archives, I know)? In any case, that's a pity. I wonder if any of the sound technicians who were present that day had/have their own copy of the footage in its entirety? Just a thought...

There are certainly some strange things 'out there'. Though I'd already had some unsettling (or downright baffling) paranormal experiences prior to reading your book, I have to admit your (true) story still gave me chills and made me view all this stuff with fresh eyes! Thankfully, I've never resided in a haunted building (touch wood!), but I happened to encounter a few unusual things unwittingly in various locations during my teens, mostly. I wish I could say I was made all the wiser as a result, but I still feel as clueless as the next person!

Those experiences did later prompt me to partake in some paranormal investigation for a couple of years ('recreationally') though, which proved to be interesting overall. However, any incidents of paranormal phenomena were, admittedly, few and far between and also very sporadic (contrary to what certain TV shows portray!). During my stint in the group, nobody seemed to capture any spirits or otherwise on-camera -- just singular orbs at best (assuming they weren't dust or moisture particles!) -- but mere, humble audio seemed to produce the most fruitful evidence. I would just set my digital recorder to 'record' and let it do its thing - I still have one clip, where a male voice abruptly shouts "HELP!" (sadly), picked up during an investigation at a 14th century jail. :-/ At the time of the recording ('real-time'), none of the 10 living people present even heard that guy, and you can clearly hear no-one reacting audibly to it either.

In recent years, I've contentedly reverted to maintaining mere armchair enthusiasm for the world of the supernatural. I'm also glad that I haven't had any random ghostly encounters (like before) in recent years - as I said, I think that stuff leaves you as clueless as before, plus I find it all frustratingly devoid of any purpose (barring its 'entertainment value' for some people!). What is the point of it all? To simply alert people to the seemingly parallel world(s?) that seems to co-exist with the earthly world/plane?... At least more 'basic' things like precognitive dreams and intuitive hunches can be used in normal daily life to, well, keep daily life normal/safe/orderly! :)

Before I finally shut the hell up(!), I just want to mention a couple of items that are said to be helpful for warding off irksome spirits and/or 'cleansing' a place of same:

1. White sage (incense). Just burn the leaves of this -- which are typically bound within a stick by the manufacturer of it -- within a place. Traditionally, Native American Indians had great faith in white sage's potent spiritually cleansing properties. Perhaps it may only be effective in more 'benign' or less extreme cases of paranormal goings-on though?... (Someone feel free to enlighten me on this, stemming from first-hand experience!).
2. A Saint Benedict religious medal that has been officially blessed by an actual friar from the Benedictine order of monks. This religious order seem to be scattered throughout the world to this day and their locations can be sourced via Google. BTW, the medal itself is just one of those inexpensive, little (usually-)silver medals, which are often sold in stores selling various, other religious paraphernalia, e.g. rosary beads, prayer cards, etc. I'm not particularly religious myself (more spiritual really), and nor do I deem one religion to be superior to another, but I'd assume that people of any denomination would overlook this triviality anyway, if they were seeking help...

Again, excuse the mercilessly protracted comment, though I do hope that someone may glean something useful from it sometime nonetheless! Oh, and *congratulations* on your excellent book's much-deserved success, Ed, and I wish you and Martha an abundance of good health and more happy times in 2015 and beyond. :-)

If they captured that in just a few minutes, I will always wonder what else they lost in 16 hours of filming? I will email you, Blessings, ED

I saw it too!! It's on Youtube.com - just type in True Haunting, click Ed and Marsha and it appears around the 1 minute and 48 second mark. It sends me chills!!! I'd been out the front door in record time!!

Hi Richard, I wish I had all the footage that NBC shot for two days. I'll bet there was more on there than they even knew. The problem was no one believed in ghosts, so they were not looking. Unfortunately, they did not archive it and all was lost, or buried where they can't find it. Blessings, ED
